Today is a very special day!

Today is one of those days that I get to sit back, take it all in, and realize that all the hard work, long hours, years of dedication to my craft, time on the road away from family, and all the energy that I put toward my couples, has officially paid off! I still can’t believe it, but today I am extremely grateful and proud to be named one of Rangefinder’s 30 Rising Stars of Wedding Photography.

I started my business four years ago and I didn’t really know where it was going but I was passionate to make it more than just a hobby. I wanted to make it something more. Rangefinder Magazine was what I turned to, to get most of my wedding photography inspiration. I looked at the photographers who were featured in there (including the 30 Rising Stars every year) and I knew what they featured is special. I could only dream about the day that my work would get international recognition and be part of something so special.

Three months ago, I was nominated to submit my work for Rangefinder’s 30 Rising Stars of Wedding Photography competition. There was a moment of disbelief because I never thought this would even be possible, the nomination alone is a huge compliment! Being nominated was a big deal and meant that I would be going through ALL the photos that I've ever taken to select only 30 that represent my collective work to date. This turned out to be one of the toughest things I’d have to do. Critiquing my own portfolio for a submission like this made me feel humbled by all the past couples who trusted me to capture some of their most important life moments. The introspection was powerful but I am so thankful that it was a part of the process.

I honestly didn’t think I would be selected, but fast forward two months after the submission, I received an email that read: “The judges have made their decision: You are a Rangefinder 30 Rising Star of Wedding Photography in 2019!”

YEAR. MADE!

Rangefinder Magazine calls the 30 honorees as “a group of emerging photographers of the year who’ve exhibited promising talent, artistic prowess, a unique voice and creative direction in wedding photography.” and today I am beyond honored to be one of the honorees.

Thanks to those who inspire me and the friends who pushed my creativity. Thanks to my wife and family, this award wouldn’t have been possible without your support. Huge thanks for the Rangefinder’s team and judges for this incredible opportunity. And thanks to all my couples who fully trust me to capture their important moments - this literally would not have been possible if it wasn’t for all of you. I am beyond grateful.

Congrats to the 29 other honorees; all your work is mind-blowing.
